Big Cable ups its upstream game with some timely network ‘splits’

Comcast alone has lost more than 1 million high-speed internet customers over the last three years, with users choosing the “good-enough” option of lower-priced fixed wireless access home broadband, or enticed by the robust symmetrical speeds of fiber-to-the-home.

And no, it’s not necessarily news. Big Cable — and its investors — are well aware of this, and they’ve been working (spending, really) feverishly for several years to modernize their networks to better compete. But as the latest data from research company Ookla shows, the Capex is starting to bear fruit.
